Thank you for auditioning for THE LITTLE MERMAID! We're excited to see your talent and appreciate your interest in being part of this production.

 

Come be a part of the broadway smash hit and part of a new summer Broadway Tradition!

Fun for all ages. All are invited to audition! Families, students, and amateurs of every level are welcome.

🎭 What to Prepare:

  • We will be reviewing an excerpt from Carrying the Banner (the song excerpt provided on this page) and then learning some actions in a group setting

  • Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes (i.e. sneakers, dance shoes, etc.)

🎭 What to Prepare:

  • A recent headshot & resume (if you have one)

  • Completed audition form (provided at check-in)

  • 16–32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of or from this musical – please be memorized (i.e. do not hold your phone)

  • The music accompaniment for your audition to be played on a speaker – we will provide the speaker and attachment 

  • Water bottle and anything else you need to feel comfortable

Character Breakdown

Ariel

A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted.

Age: 16 to 25

Prince Eric

A human monarch who has no interest of taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more.

Grimsby

Prince Eric's British guardian. Droll, stuffy, and constantly urging Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage.

Flounder

A fish and smitten with Ariel, his best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water.

Scuttle

A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise.

King Triton

King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans.

Sebastian

A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way.

Flotsam

An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear.

An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear.

Ursula

The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Malevolent, calculating, and deceptive.

Chef Louis

The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular.

Audition Frequently Asked Questions

​Where are auditions located?

Auditions will be inside the Barker Park Amphitheater. The entrance is around back on the north side of the facility. The amphitheater is located at 2375 Fruitland Dr, North Ogden, UT 84414.

Is there parking and how far away is it?​​

There is free paved parking to the south and east of the amphitheater. If parking there, Plan on a good 5 minute walk from your car to the check-in point. There is also dirt road parking available directly to the north of the facility which is closer to to the entrance but limited space.

Where do I report when I arrive?​

Once you have arrived, proceed to the north side of the amphitheater. Signs will guide you around the facility to the check-in point.

Are there bathrooms inside the amphitheater?

Yes. There are single-person bathrooms located inside the amphitheater.

Do I get paid to be in the cast?

Yes. There is a small stipend for cast members ages 16+. Each cast and crew member (including the youth chorus) will also receive a comp (free) ticket as a thank you.

Do I have to pay to be in the show if cast?

No. There is no fee to be in the show. We do ask cast members to purchase their script or youth chorus music book and require a commitment deposit per cast member which is fully refundable at the end of the production. (No digital scripts will be available for this production.) If this is a financial concern, there are other options which we are happy to discuss on a case by case basis. 

Where will rehearsals be?

Rehearsal locations may vary but will primarily be at the Broadway On The Side studio in Ogden or at the amphitheater in North Ogden.
